Spent most of my life in Canada but a good chunk of it in US. My comparative healthcare observations:
/ Quality of basic care is equal but if you are one of the 83 percent of Americans who have insurance, access to elective surgery and specialists is easier and quicker
/Cost of US healthcare suppresses entrepreneurial activity and initiative because would-be entrepreneurs can't afford cost of leaving their coverage that comes with their employers
/ US doctors seem to order tests and referrals to specialists far more often, suggesting concern about malpractice lawsuits and no cost disincentives to do otherwise
/ Healthcare is often discussed as a commodity in US, not a fundamental right, as in Canada.
